This homemade chocolate banana ice cream recipe is so creamy, healthy, and vegan! It's also naturally sweetened, customizable, uses just 3 ingredients, easy, and quick to make.
I always have frozen bananas in my freezer since I make my go-to green smoothie or smoothie bowl every morning. I freeze a batch of ripe bananas every couple of weeks and then I use reusable storage bags to store them in the freezer.
This dairy-free banana ice cream texture is like soft-serve and also very creamy. It's a perfect healthy treat especially in the summer because it's naturally sweetened just like my chocolate mousse, strawberry sorbet and strawberry milkshake recipes.
How to make banana ice cream recipe
Ingredients
Frozen bananas
Since this is a banana ice cream recipe, we'll need some frozen bananas. You will need to make sure that the bananas are very ripe before freezing so they taste sweet.
Milk
We'll need some liquid to blend the bananas so I use either homemade oat milk, cashew milk, or almond milk. You can also use store-bought plant-based milk.
Cacao powder
I added a couple of tablespoons cacao powder for that chocolate flavor. You can also add more or less depending on your taste. If you a chocolate fan, then you should try my vegan avocado brownies!

- First, you will need to put the frozen bananas, plant-based milk, and cacao powder into a high-speed blender or food processor.
- And then blend until you have soft-serve texture. I like drizzling melted chocolate and also add some chocolate chips on top.

- If it's not blending, add 1 tbs plant-based milk at a time for easier blending.
- You can add peanut butter or any other nut butter.
- Try adding a vanilla bean or vanilla extract for vanilla flavor.
