I love drinking green juice because it energizes me right away. It is great to incorporate it into your everyday healthy morning routine to start your day right.
You can also alternate between a green smoothie or juice to change things up. If you don't like a certain vegetable, you can always swap it with another favorite.

Green Juice Ingredients
Kale
Kale can be bitter so add less at the beginning if you are not used to drinking green juice. You can also use different varieties of kale such as curly, lacinato, or red Russian.
Celery
I was never a big fan of celery but it's growing on me. In my experience, juicing the small leaves at the top of the stalks make it taste very bitter so I would discard it.
Parsley
Parsley gives a very strong flavor so start small if you are new to adding it into juice. You can also use cilantro instead if you prefer.
Apples
I like green apples but you can use your favorite kind. If you want this juice to be sweeter, you can always add more apples as well.
Fresh Ginger
Fresh ginger gives a little spicy kick and also makes this drink delicious. You can add more or less depending on your taste.
Lemons
Lemons really brighten the flavors and also give a little tangy taste. You can use limes instead if you prefer.
The best juicer to use for green juice recipe
I researched a lot before I bought my juicer. It is certainly an investment and you want to be sure that it is high-quality.
It was important for me to buy a juicer that didn't heat up the juice. That way I could make a batch and keep it in the fridge for a couple of days instead of making it daily.
After much debating, I decided to purchase a slow speed masticating juicer to better preserve the nutrients. It is better to drink the juice right away but it's nice to have the option to store it for a couple of days.
Tips for making Green Juice for beginners
If this is the first time you are making detox green juice, here are some suggestions for you.
Use less leafy greens to start
Leafy greens can be bitter and also they are a little bit more noticeable in green juice than green smoothies. You should try to use less leafy greens to keep it simple in the beginning.
When you start getting used to drinking green juice, you can gradually add more leafy greens. You can also rotate your leafy greens and experiment with different varieties.
Use organic fruits and vegetable whenever possible
Try to buy organic produce whenever possible since they contain less pesticides. If you cannot find it or afford it, be sure to wash thoroughly and also peel the skin if needed.
The local farmers market has the most seasonal and fresh produce and also often times you can get a good deal. So, I recommend checking out your local farmers market or look for sales at your grocery store.
Chop Produce Into Smaller Pieces
When you chop the produce smaller, you are less likely to get frustrated and clog your juicer. You can also overwhelm the juicer and stress the motor as well.
Juicing can be a monotone task so make it fun by listening to music, podcast, audiobooks, or watch youtube videos. Think about it like a meditative experience!
Run the pulp through the juicer again
This is actually my favorite juicing tip! You pay so much money for fresh produce so you want to make sure you are using every bit.
Towards the end of juicing, just collect the pulp and then run through the juicer again to get more juice. You will be surprised to see how much more you can get and also don't forget to compost the leftover pulp!
