How do you make gluten free and vegan avocado chocolate mousse
Ingredients
Avocado
We'll be using ripe avocados so you won't end up with big pieces in your dessert. You will need to make sure that they're ripe because it will be very creamy when blended.
Plant based Milk
You can really use any unsweetened plant based milk but I usually use homemade almond milk or cashew milk.
Cacao powder & Dairy Free chocolate chips
Cacao powder gives rich chocolatey flavor but you can use unsweetened cocoa powder instead. We will also use melted dairy free chocolate chips for more chocolate flavor.
Vanilla extract
To give a subtle vanilla flavor, we will be adding vanilla extract in the blender.
Maple Syrup & pinch of salt
This recipe is naturally sweetened so I chose to use maple syrup. We'll also add a pinch of salt to balance out the sweetness.
How to make it
- First, you will need to melt the chocolate chips by placing them in a small bowl and microwave it in 15-second increments until fully melted. You can also use a double boiler to melt it.
- Now, add all the ingredients in a high-speed blender or a food processor and blend until very smooth and creamy. For the best flavor and texture, place it in the fridge for at least one hour before enjoying it. You can top it with raspberries, strawberries, and coconut whip cream.
Tips & Variations
- You can add more maple syrup if you would like it sweeter.
- Also, you can add more cacao powder for even more chocolate flavor.
- For best taste and texture, place it in the fridge for at least 1 hour before serving.
How to store vegan avocado chocolate mousse
You can store it in an airtight container for up to 5 days in the fridge!
