Before we jump into the recipe, let's talk about how you can customize it and learn some tips.
Is honey vegan?
People have different opinions but most vegans believe honey is not vegan since it’s from an animal. To make this recipe vegan friendly, we will use maple syrup instead because it's easily accessible.
How to make vegan honey mustard sauce
Ingredients
Dijon Mustard
I think dijon mustard works perfectly for this recipe so that's what we will be using. But make sure to use a good quality one because it makes a difference.
Mayo
I make homemade mayo from aquafaba so that's what I use. You can also buy vegan mayonnaise at the store.
Maple syrup
As mentioned earlier, we will use maple syrup instead of honey. You can also add more or less depending on your preference.
Garlic powder
I like using garlic powder because raw garlic can be overpowering. You can also adjust the measurement to your liking!
Lemon Juice
Freshly squeezed lemon juice gives this sauce a tangy flavor so I don't recommend omitting it. I don't recommend using a bottle version either because I don't think it tastes fresh.
Salt
You should just start with a pinch of salt and then adjust to taste. You might end up adding too much salt if the mayo is already salty so keep that in mind.
How to make it
- All you have to do is to add all the ingredients in a bowl and then mix it well. But always adjust to taste and make adjustments if needed!
Tips
- You can add more maple syrup if you like this mustard sauce to be sweeter.
- Place it in the fridge for 30 minutes or so for flavors to develop.
- Always adjust to taste and add salt if needed!
How to serve vegan honey mustard
- Dip pretzels
- Use it as a salad dressing

- Also so delicious!
